Jon Winthrop

I started competitive driving in 1976 with a 1966 911 at various PCA and POC events, starting with autocross and time trials, and then ”club races” before there were officially sanctioned club races. This led to SCCA Regional events, SCCA National events, IMSA street, track and endurance events (such as Long Beach, Del Mar, Riverside Raceway, Laguna Seca, Las Vegas, Portland), the Willow Springs Super Production series, SCCA Pro Racing/Trans-Am and VARA. I have driven many types of Porsche race cars such as the 356, various types of  911s, the 911 RSR, 935 and 917. In Trans-Am, I competed with a Chevrolet Camaro sponsored by The Air Group and Fischer Engineering. In addition, for two years I was a driver for a local team that participated in the initial SCCA-Playboy endurance series in a showroom stock Corvette. For the 2019-2020 seasons I’m competing in a 2019 Porsche GT3 Cup car managed by TruSpeed Autosport. We’ll race primarily in the Pirelli Trophy Series which is a spec class series for Porsche GT3 cars, and with the right sponsor the IMSA GT3 Challenge Cup by Yokohama.
